Unfiltered Motherhood is...

For the women who want to lift the veil. It’s for women who love being moms, but also love other things, like wine and sleeping and babysitters.

It’s for the women who, despite being hell bent and determined that nothing in her life would change once she became a mom, suddenly doesn’t recognize herself outside of that one role.

Unfiltered Motherhood is the place where an intimate group of women come together and lift the curtains of their own shitshows without fear of judgment or criticism. It’s for women who want to stop feeling guilty about every single fucking decision she makes. It’s for women who want to connect, support, grow, and learn with a group of moms just like her.

Unfiltered Motherhood is us.

We’re here to learn how to identify the vicious social media comparison trap, and subsequently stay the hell away from it.

We’re here because we want our marriages to be exciting and fun, and we want to remember how to have conversations with our partners that don’t include recaps of your child’s sleep, bowel movements, or milestones.

We’re here to rediscover and reclaim our identities outside of “Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!” because we know that, somewhere in there, is the woman who wants to stop playing small and starting living her ideal life (despite being knee-deep in diapers, laundry, and sleep training.)

We’re here because we’re tired of hearing the term “self-care” and not actually applying it to our own lives. We’re here because we’re tired of carrying around the long-held belief that women have to do it all (and not ever ask for help.)

We’re here because some of us are the “1 in 4 women” who experienced postpartum depression, or because we’re one of the millions of Americans who need medication to help us be the best versions of ourselves. We’re here because we know (or want to know) that there is nothing to be ashamed about.

We’re here, because despite all the crazy shit that comes along with being a mom, we love it. No, we may not love every single moment of every single day, but we wouldn’t trade this gig for the entire world. We’re here because, despite being exhausted and stretched thin, we watch our babies sleep at night and we wonder what on Earth we did to deserve something so perfect.

Are you ready to start living your best life NOW?

Do me a favor and imagine what your life might look like if you started making yourself a priority. I'm not asking you to ditch priorities and book a week-long vacation to Fiji (unless that's your goal), but I am asking you to take a look at real life and consider how you might start making it better, more enjoyable, and less stressful. Just because you're a mom doesn't mean that you're only a mom.

I believe that you deserve to

  • Feel empowered, validated, and connected.
  • Build a tribe of women just like you who support and encourage you.
  • Understand that you're not the "only one" who has certain feelings about motherhood, marriage, and life in general.
  • A real life look into motherhood without the filters, crafted status updates, and #blessed moments.
  • Make your marriage fun, exciting, and a priority.
  • Uncover and unleash your identity outside of "MOMMY!"

I'm Colleen Nichols, M.Ed., a life coach and advocate for moms. I genuinely believe that, with a little guidance (aka: real talk) and support, we're all capable of getting out of our own way and becoming the best versions of ourselves.

My mission is to encourage women to love themselves, their lives (even the messy parts), and embrace the sisterhood we all crave.
